What you need

Ingredients

  • 115 g brown sugar
  • 150 g white sugar
  • 115 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • Two to three bars of your favorite chocolate, crushed (about 1 cup)
  • Optionally some sprinkles of your choice

For a lighter vegan version, swap the egg for a flaxseed or chia mixture and use plant-based butter.

Step by step

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter gently and let it cool slightly for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars and butter until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the crushed chocolate.
  7. Preheat the oven to 170ยฐC / 350ยฐF.
  8. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  9. Press the dough balls down slightly for a more even shape and softer texture.
  10. Bake for 10โ€“12 minutes, until lightly golden.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the tray for a few minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
